Starting on Monday, any student with Ms. Nyhlen on his or her schedule, will be rotating into Health class. All other students with Mr. Dvorak or Mrs. Conley on their schedule will be in PE class. Our new units for this rotation are ping pong and bags with Mr. Dvorak and pickleball with Ms. Nyhlen. The first group of students did an outstanding job with these games and I look forward to seeing the great teamwork and cooperation in tournament play during the next two weeks.
Our Winter sports season is in the home stretch. Best of luck to both the boys and girls basketball teams as they play tonight at Lakeview in the round of 4. The girls will host Jefferson at 4pm, while the boys will play Old Quarry at 5:15pm. If Lakeview wins tonight, they will move onto the championship games which will be held next Tuesday, March 12th at Jefferson Jr. High. Girls game time is set for 6:00pm with the boys set to play at 7:30pm. GO SPARTANS!!!
The Winter Athletic Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 21st with dinner beginning at 6:00pm. All JV and Varsity basketball players/managers were given a form today (Friday, March 8th), that should be brought home and filled out. If you choose to eat dinner with us that night, please return the form and appropriate dollar amount to Ms. Nyhlen by Friday, March 15th.

Conclusion of units
Today the Health and PE classes wrapped up their final day in the first units of Quarter 3. Nyhlen will now rotate to Conley in Health, Conley will rotate to Dvorak for strength training and Dvorak will rotate to Nyhlen for basketball. We will begin those new units on Monday! Please be prepared with your uniform if you are in PE class and make sure to have all the materials you need for Health class.
Best of luck to the boys and girls varsity basketball teams this Sunday as they take part in the Annual Mayor's Day Goodwill Basketball Classic in Lisle. All games will be played on Sunday at the Walker Sports Complex located at 4925 Indiana Avenue, Lisle Illinois 60532, 630-324-7800.

New Rotations
This week we began our original rotation groups in PE and Health classes. Ms. Nyhlen's class is currently participating in the basketball unit, while Mr. Dvorak's class is participating in the strength training unit. In basketball, all students will be working on the basic skills of the game that include dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. Starting on Tuesday next week, all classes will begin game play that will continue through the remainder of the unit. We will test on Friday, January 25th.
Good luck to both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams as they begin their regular season schedule. This week their opponents include Cass and Old Quarry. Go Spartans!

Ballroom Dance
On Friday this week, all of the 8th grade students will be participating in the annual ballroom dance. The dance will take place from about 1pm until the end of the school day. All parents are welcome to attend and bring along cameras, even if you son or daughter has told you they are not allowed.
The entire class has done an excellent job the last 3 weeks during PE class and they are ready to show off their new ballroom dancing skills for you. Mrs. Ann Garvey and her team of dancers from Celebrity Dance Studio will also be performing during a portion of the dance.
All 7th and 8th grade students will be taking their written test during class on Friday over ballroom dancing.
The 6th grade students have been participating the last 8 days in square dancing. They will be concluding their unit on Thursday in class with a skills test and written test.
I hope everyone has a lovely holiday season spent with family and friends!

Cookie Dough Fund Raiser Pick-Up
Thank you again to all students and families who participated in the PE/Athletics Cookie Dough fund raiser for this year. The pick-up date will be on Wednesday, December 5th from 3:15pm to 6:30pm at Lakeview Junior High. Please park in the back lot and enter through Gym 1 doors. Tables will be set up for you to pick-up your order and exit smoothly without delay. Please email me if you have any questions at all. enyhlen@ccsd66.org

This week in PE class is a short one due to the Thanksgiving holiday. In the volleyball unit, we just finished up with our skill work portion of the unit and will begin playing games after break. All of the students have been doing a great job, keep up the good work!
The bowling field trips will take place on Wednesday, November 28th for 7th grade students and Friday, November 30th for 8th grade students. Tomorrow in class, students will sign up for lane assignments, as well as, receive a permission slip. Please sign this over break and return it on Monday or Tuesday.

Fall Sports Banquet
The Fall Sports Banquet will be held on Thursday, November 8th starting with the dinner portion at 6pm. Following dinner, at 6:30pm, we will begin the awards ceremony. All fall sport athletes and their families are welcome to attend. It should be a great evening! Thank you to everyone who turned their banquet forms in on time!
In PE classes, we are currently in the middle of our second set of units. We just finished the first week of our second rotation and students have really been impressing me with their volleyball skills. Keep up the great work for next week when we start full games!
The Winter sports season is upon us already. The JV Basketball and JV Cheer teams have been practicing and preparing for our first game next Wednesday, vs Westmont. The boys will travel to Westmont, while the girls will host the Panthers here at Lakeview. Come on out and support your Spartans in their home opener.
Have a wonderful long weekend! I will be spending it in Green Bay, WI at Lamebeau Field on Sunday as the Packers take on the Arizona Cardinals. GO PACK GO! ;)
