May is Here!

This week in P.E. class we wrapped up our doubles tournament in Badminton. Congratulations to the following students on being the tournament champions in their respective classes. 2nd period: Ryan G. and Patrick M. 4th period: Kristian C., Ryan B. and Corey B. 5th period: Julian M., Dan T., Austin J. and Mike M. 6th period: Eddie L. and Ramiz R.

Great job to everyone that participated in the doubles tournament! We are currently finishing up our badminton and soccer units and will be testing on both next week. Please review your study guides!

All 6th grade students are still participating in their second unit of the rotation including badminton, soccer and softball. We will also be testing next week on your current unit.

Congratulations to the girls softball team on their 9-5 victory over Jefferson on Tuesday. Last night, the game at Cass ended in a 5-5 tie! Despite playing in a sandstorm, the girls battled and gave everything they had, but couldn't pull it out in the end. Overall, our record is 2-3-1. The last two games of the season will be on Monday, 5/3 and Wednesday, 5/5 AT LAKEVIEW. Come on out and support your Spartans!

Congratulations to the Girls Softball Team on their victory over Burr Ridge! The Lady Spartans won their first game of the season 9-0, with superb pitching from Megan S. (a complete game shutout), and great defense by all of the team. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead with 4 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back. Next week: Tuesday, 4/27 @ Jefferson and Thursday, 4/29 @ Cass. GO SPARTANS!

This week in P.E. class 7th and 8th grade classes continued with their Badminton and Soccer units. Each class also prepared for the mile run, by participating in two 15 minute runs. Students worked on pacing and breathing techniques to better control their heart rate during their run.

The sixth grade classes switched units on Wednesday and are now in a new unit of either badminton, soccer or softball. These will be the final three units for our sixth grade students. Let's finish out the school year strong! Have a great weekend!

New Units...

This past week in P.E. classes all three grade levels started their new units. In 7th and 8th grade, we are playing badminton and soccer. Students alternate daily between both units and still participate in their two days of fitness during the week as well.

In sixth grade, Nyhlen started badminton, Dodd is currently in softball and Dvoark began soccer. Please remember that as the weather gets warmer, we will be going outside for some of our units. Students are allowed to wear sweatpants or a sweatshirt over their uniform and we recommend that they be kept in their main hall locker until we go outside that day.

All Spring sports are currently in the first week of practices. The softball team will have its first game next Tuesday, April 13th @ home against Gower. Come on out and support your Spartans at opening day! Girls and boys soccer, as well as, boys volleyball also kickoff their season that day!
