Softball Unit

This week in 7th and 8th grade classes, all students are participating in the annual softball tournament.  Each team competes against one another in a softball game over the course of two days.  At the end of day 2, whichever team is ahead gets the win.  We have had some pretty close games up to date, with multiple periods ending their games with a mark in the tie column.  Keep up the great work!

Sixth grade classes are in their second rotation of the last three units.  In badminton, we will continue to work on serving and various types of shots and strategies.  At the end of this week, we will begin playing doubles games.

Congratulations to the girls softball team on their 2nd place season finish, as well as their 2nd place conference tournament finish.  The Spartans played great softball all season and finished with an overall record of 7-1-1.  Way to go Spartans!!!

Conclusion of units....

This week in PE classes we are finishing up our badminton and soccer units with the 7th and 8th grade students.  We will be testing on Thursday and then running the mile on Friday to wrap up the week.  Please make sure that you review your study guides as each question is worth two points.

In 6th grade classes, we are continuing along with our final rotation of units.  With only about 4 weeks left of school, the 6th grade students are continuing to do an excellent job in each unit.  I think they are ready to move on to 7th grade!

Congratulations to the softball team as they prepare for their final regular season game this Wednesday vs. Westmont @ Lakeview.  As of today their record is 4-1-1.  The girls will play in the conference tournament on Saturday, May 12th at Lemont Park District.  Go Spartans!

Fitness Testing

This week we began fitness testing with our 6th grade students.  Every student will complete the sit and reach, one minute sit ups, shuttle run, pull ups and timed mile run.  At the conclusion of these tests each student should bring home their fitness score sheet for their parents to sign and return to their PE teacher.  Right now, with the weather this week, we are looking to run the mile on Thursday.

The ultimate goal of every student should be to improve all of the scores from the Fall round of fitness testing.

In our 7th and 8th grade classes, students are continuing along with their badminton tournament.  There have been a lot of great games up to date and I look forward to seeing the conclusion of the games.  In sixth grade classes, students will begin their final rotation of three units.  Ms. Nyhlen's class will begin badminton, Mr. Dodd's class will begin softball and Mr. Dvorak's class will begin soccer.
